Urban Outfitters has a new store... but only for a few days...

For those not content with the piles of secondhand stuff at Urban Outfitters' "urban renewal" sections, there's a new pop-up shop coming that aims to give more vintage influence to your current fashions.

The Reformed, a temporary store in Los Angeles, opens this week for 30 days only, and sells a new collection by vintage mavens Yael Aflalo and Chi Bui. Inspired by their popular (permanent) boutique The Reformation, the store will sell a range based on vintage patterns and cuts but created totally new.

The Reformed opens this Saturday night, and stays open through November 20. And look, here's a Google map so you can get there!

Why do we reward bad behavior?

 WHY is Lilly Allen in the newest CHANEL hangbag campaign? I understand Karl Lagerfeld has been quoted as saying "she's fun" but that is NO reason to have her be a representative of an iconic, classy , incomparable brand!  Lilly Allen is the complete opposite of those things! SOOOO many other qualified women come to mind to embody the CHANEL brand; NATALIE PORTMAN, AUDREY TATOU (again), CATE BLANCHETT! but foul mouthed, sounds awful in concert, wishy washy ("i'm quitting the music business! oh wait , i change my mind!") Lilly Allen???!! C'MON! What's next? Amy Winehouse representing CREST Whitening Strips wearing Diane von Fursetenburg?!

VINTAGE EXPO EXPLODES WITH PRETZELS, CAKE, oh yeah, and CLOTHES CLOTHES CLOTHES!

Went to the AH-MAZING Vintage Expo yesterday in Santa Monica. Many people were startled by the loud gasps of "oohs" and "aahs" and "OMG, look at this!" that were coming out of our mouths. Bet you didn't think such loud obnoxious noises could come out of such a short person, did ya, oh startled one? Apologies to those I stood next to as I squeamed with delight a little more loudly than usual. It was a fantastic day spent with friends while admiring beautiful clothing that dated from the 1800's all the way up to the 80's. I took pics but they didn't come out as fabulous as I'd hoped. Note to self, PHONE CAMERA is NOT THE SAME AS DIGITAL CAMERA. Here's a video of the event from their website. This is a highly recommended event if you are a fan of period costumes, vintage clothing, pretzels and cake from their snack bar, hats, and more! The next one is in February.

UNBELIEVABLE!

I just posted something about this a few days ago about how Ralph Lauren and company realized they were at fault for letting such a horribly photo shopped image make its way out into the public. Now we find out the model who they purposely emaciated via photo shop got fired because she was a size 4???!!!! I used to work at a modeling agency so this is something that hits deep with me. It's been about 7 years since I've been in the industry and it seems like the sample sizes have become A LOT smaller than they were back in '02. A sample size 4 today could actually be a 2 or a 0! It's just infuriating that this is still going on when "supposedly" fashion magazines are encouraging healthier sizes.

The song I posted is from the movie which came out 2 years ago. They are now on tour with a new album. The combination of their voices together is so beautiful, I am brought to tears everytime I hear this song. K, I gotta go get a damn tissue now...

Twilight, Shhmilight!

I admit with no shame that I have not read one Twilight book or seen the movies. the ONLY reason I am posting this video is because I am feelin this Death Cab song from the new movie soundtrack. I wasn't really a huge DCFC fan either until I saw them in July. I mostly went to that show to hang with friends and because Tegan and Sara were opening and I'd already seen DCFC twice before. Well, I guess third time's the charm because they were really good and I was into it! Moral of the story; go see Death Cab For Cutie at the Hollywood Bowl outside on a beautiful summer night and everyone wins!!
