I'm really into this song, Marrow, by St. Vincent. I have been fulfilling my unexplained desire to experience the 80's this past week by seeing 2 great artists from the 80's and I went to see a remake of a great 80's movie. This current song is just adding to my self- indulgence. I was just surfing my music blogs like I do every Sunday and came across this terrific track. After the song ended, I promptly listened to Human League's "Fascination". And now, I give you BOTH songs! :)

I am on the Vogue train. BIG TIME! Unfortunately, I have been known in the past to shout "READ YOUR VOGUE!!" when I see a completely heinous outfit on the street. (i.e., hot pink UGG boots with fringed jean shorts or "jorts", tube top, a scarf, and a denim jacket in 100 degree weather!! WHAT THE F*&^K?!) I'm sorry but you deserve the wrath if you're wearing something that doesn't make ANY sense and if you were wearing that outfit, odds are you were probably in yesterday's make-up as well.

This documentary about the making of the September issue of Vogue, the biggest issue of the year, has me all bajiggity inside and I can't wait to watch Ms. Anna in action!

I first heard Phoenix and their song "Everything is Everything" maybe a couple years ago and I liked it as well. 1901 has a completely different sound from Everything is Everything and that's exactly why I like them. 2 songs that don't sound anything alike from the same band. That's what I'm talkin about. For your ear holes I have provided both songs.... if anyone even reads this. If no one reads this shameless stream of words of mine called "the blog", then it just means I have Phoenix at my reach whenever I get the "shakin that ass" urge. (which happens a lot) :)

This song by Lightning Dust was the perfect end to my day. If you like Siouxsee, Portishead, or old school Dead Can Dance, then you'll probably fall in love like I did after listening to this track.

I heart the Smashing Pumpkins. A LOT!! I think they are the only band since 1995 that I have been sure to see every time they come to town. I know the last few years have been a revolving door of members joining then leaving the band but my heart remains a big fan no matter what. That being said, Billy Corgan has a blog out. Clock Strikes Upon the Hour....
I had the day free and caught the Oprah show with Whitney Houston. She just came out with a new album and it was a really great interview! I forgot how much I loved Whitney Houston!! I know I probably just aged myself by proclaiming old school love for Whitney, but whatevs! THE BODYGUARD??! HELLO! "And I-I-I-I-I-I will always love yooooou ooooh ooooh I-I-I-I will always love yoooooou...." loves it! Anyway she looks like she's got it together and back to her old self pre-crackhead Bobby Brown.
I just had to post a video of one of my favorite songs by her EVAHH!! The video also brings back a great memory of catching my mom laughing hysterically at me while I was in the mirror lip synching to the song and determined to learn the dance moves from the video! :)

Spent the day in my car while my 17 year old niece drove with her permit for the first time. She's pretty good! I still needed to bring my heart rate down after we were done, though! Not because she was bad but because I am now in that age group where I grab onto things while she makes a perfectly fine turn or I press on the imaginary break that is on the passenger side. :)

I have had an absurdly pathetic amount of free time on my hands lately but have been taking advantage of it by discovering some new bands. I am a music lover to the core and get really excited when I find something I like. Here are some bands that I think are worth you clicking the mouse a few extra times to listen to their music....Japandroids are fun jump around garage rock, Meiko is lovely, angelic and folky. I have been talking about her for a while and won't rest until everyone loves her as much as I do. Company of Thieves is an indie pop band with a sassy female singer.

Fashion Week, Bitches
For those of you who know me, you know that I am a HUGE Gwen fan! Her fashion line, L.A.M.B., kicked off Fashion Week today and the clothes were H..O..T! If I had a genie and got 3 wishes, they would be: 1) singing with Gwen at the top of our lungs in the car while on a road trip, 2) work with her on the designs for her clothing company, L.A.M.B., and 3) have a girl's night out where we all go dancing, drink too many Tecate beers, shake that ass to JT then end the night with #4 combos from Del Taco! :)
